Beaches
The villa is located just 30 mins from a spectacular coastline of golden sand, calm turquoise water, and pristine natural scenery - home to some of the best beaches in Europe. From family friendly, restaurant-lined or quiet and secluded , the Eastern Algarve has something for everyone and the villa is perfectly placed to pick the best along the coast from Abufeira to Tavira.
Cities
If you're planning an extended stay and have time for an overnight break in either Lisbon (2.5 hrs) or Seville (2 hrs) then both are well worth a visit. Visit the Portuguese capital for a healthy dose of culture, sights and seafood... or take in a heady mix of Flamenco, tapas and striking architecture in one of Spain's greats.
Towns & Villages
There are so many picturesque villages in this area of the Algarve. We recommend Cacela Velha (wonderful views and food); Tavira (on the Guadiana River); Santa Luzia (fishing village with a mini train to Barril Beach); Olhão (fishing port with lots of restaurants and great beach) ; Ilha de Faro (for restaurants and beaches) ; Vilamoura/Quinta do Lago (famous golf courses);
Silves (historic Castle town); and of course Sagres, the most westerly town in Europe.
Leisure Activities
There are many hiking and biking trails around the area and surrounding man-made lakes which are ideal spots for family picnics. We have provided cold boxes and picnic cutlery, crockery, and parasols in case you want to go off and explore. The area is a walker's paradise with plenty of marked paths and trails through shaded forests and hillsides.
Wildlife

For lovers of flora and fauna there are many interesting plants, herbs and animals in the area. This is an especially popular spot for birdwatchers and we are always happy to welcome fellow nature lovers to the house to enjoy the very special, natural surroundings.
Golf
​
The Algarve is world-famous for it's excellent golf courses, and with some of the best within easy driving distance, it's very doable to combine a relaxing holiday... and get in a couple of games too! Some clubs offer clubs for hire and there is a hire service at Faro airport so you can collect some clubs on your way out.
